The Bacon Free Library was established in 1880 and continues to provide the community with library services and programs today. The library provides its users with a charming blend of today's best-sellers, old fashioned friendliness, and modern technology in an historic neighborhood setting. Our riverside location offers the perfect spot to relax with a book or laptop computer.

The Bacon Free Library provides library users with a charming blend of today’s best-sellers. Old fashion friendliness and modern computer in an historic neighborhood setting. The library has been in continues operation since 1881. Though the Bacon Free Library, patrons have access to over five million items from 40+ public & academic libraries of the Minuteman Library Network. The library also provides access to regional electronic databases and the internet. Ask us about obtaining any information or materials that you need.
The Bacon Free Library offers a variety of adult, child, and seasonal programs. Many of out library programs and collections are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Bacon Free Library. Please consider joining them. The Library also houses the
Most library materials circulate for 3 weeks. DVD’s circulation for 2 weeks, & magazine for 1 week. Most materials may be renewed once, unless another library user has requested the item. Library users can renew materials in person, over the phone, or on the internet. High demand books that the library rents to supplement the collection circulate for 2 weeks.
To encourage prompt return of library materials, late fees are assessed at a rate of 20¢ per day with a $4 per item maximum charge. DVD’s accrue late fees at a rate of $1 per day with a $10 maximum charge. The fee for lost or damaged items is the cost of replacement & processing of that item. The complete policy is available at the library. There is no fee to replace lost library cards.
